We are Tash Bags, a homegrown brand from Navi Mumbai, India, born from a deep love for artisan craftsmanship and a belief that everyday objects deserve to be extraordinary.

Our Story

Tash Bags was founded by Tanushree Gaikwad — an architect by profession, and a maker at heart.

Tanushree spent years working with materials in ways most people never get to — understanding how wood breathes, how metal holds light, how texture and form can transform something functional into something beautiful. It was this intimate relationship with materials that sparked an unexpected idea: what if a bag could be made the way a building is designed — with intention, structure, and soul?

That question became Tash Bags.

Drawing on her architectural eye and her passion for India's rich craft heritage, Tanushree set out to create bags that were truly unlike anything else — handcrafted pieces that are a fusion of art, architecture, and tradition.

Each Tash Bag is a labour of love. We work with a rich and ever-growing palette of materials — wood, brass, fabric, papier mâché, macrame, glass, crystals, and many more — chosen for their beauty, durability, and character.

Our techniques are as varied as the traditions that inspire them:

• Hand-carving — intricate patterns etched by skilled craftspeople into solid wood
• Laser cutting — precision detailing that brings geometric and floral motifs to life
• Glass mosaic work — vibrant, jewel-like inlays that catch the light beautifully
• Kashmiri Papier Mâché — a centuries-old art form where layers of paper pulp are hand-painted with delicate motifs in rich, jewel-toned colours
